Morning sun for Bilbo

Malcolm is still very fond of his little plant named Bilbo. He carries it carefully around - always with two hands, and gives it gentle pats and kisses. He likes to sit with Bilbo at the table and pretends to feed it bites of his meal. He also likes to have it sit with us when we read books. This day, Malcolm was in the living room when I put Bilbo up at the window for some morning sun. He saw this reflection on the wall and came running in to get Bilbo.

Smarter than Mom already

I was pecking away at a small toy keyboard Malcolm has, playing and singing my slow and off-key version of This Old Man when Malcolm started pointing upstairs and "saying" something (uh, uh). It seemed he was telling me that he had heard the same song on his new favorite CD from Auntie Becky, but I couldn't recall hearing it there. Sure enough, later that day we heard Raffi's version of This Old Man on his CD.

Bidding farewell to fall

Yes, those marigolds are still blooming heartily, and no he doesn't have a coat on. This picture was taken last week, and now it is snowing with a low of 14F predicted for tonight.

Can't quite reach the pedals

Aunt Becky and Uncle Bob visited us from NJ for the weekend. We had a fun time, but unfortunately they took our nice weather with them when they left. For more pictures from their visit, see Becky's Flickr page.

Little drummer

Malcolm discovered that his potty (lid closed) makes a perfect seat for drumming on his diaper buckets. He found two of my hairbrushes for drum sticks.

Horsey breakfast

Malcolm often likes to bring friends to meals. Here he brought his lego horse and pony, and came up with the idea all on his own that they might enjoy a bite of his banana bread.

Can't I go play with the bears?

They're not lawn ornaments

Yesterday we went to a little public zoo in Madison. We had been there before and Malcolm was very much looking forward to seeing the flamingos again. He has been spotting flamingos lately like he spots garbage trucks. When I picked him up at the outdoor playground of his school last week, he made a big point of showing me a plastic pink flamingo that was on a yard nearby. If you ask him what flamingos do, he'll crane his little neck up as high as he can.

Mystery question: What is Malcolm is carrying, and why does he have it with him at the zoo?
Hint: It was all his idea.

Post your guess in the comments.

Little plumber

Opa helped me replace the sink drain pipes last week.
