Testing out his swim goggles

Malcolm noticed that the blue goggles made the colored letters on the refrigerator change color and sat down to experiment a bit, tipping the goggles up to see what color the letters turned.

Pass the grubs, please

Malcolm will often pretend he is one of his animal friends. "Today I am a baby owl," or locust, or brook trout, or beaver. On our hike this weekend, Malcolm (our little bear cub for the day) found a rotten log and began to tear chunks off in search of grubs to eat. Later, on the drive home, we stopped at a restaurant for lunch and Malcolm looked up at the waitress and said "I would like some grubs, with a side of fish and berries." Mom quietly explained he was our little bear cub and although the waitress thought it was cute she didn't take the cue to play along. So when lunch arrived Malcolm scanned the table and said "she didn't bring my grubs!" Mom thought quickly and pointed out that the waitress had in fact brought them, but they were in the soup... grub soup. Malcolm was content with this and began to gobble up spoonfuls of (portabella mushroom) soup.
